24 February, 2005 - Notice of Annual Membership Meeting, 19 March, Westin Galleria, Houston, Texas. Immediately after the NGAT general morning meeting. Location to be announced at the NGAT convention. Nominations for awards must be emailed by 10 March for awarding at the meeting. Members are highly encouraged to register for the convention but TXSG personnel are typically not charged if they attend on Saturday for only the meeting and displays if they are in uniform (Class B). Uniforms for members registered for the Saturday Awards dinner are Mess Dress, Blue Dress, or Green Dress (enlisted) as well as civilian formal wear. The TSGA will be hosting a hospitality suite during the convention. Registration details can be found by clicking here.

10 December, 2004 - A letter explaining the 2005 merger of the TSGA was sent to all members this month. Please click here to read the letter if you possibly did not recieve it.

3 October, 2004 - The TSGA completed activities hosting the State Guard Association of the US in San Antonio today. LTC Paul LaValle, HQ TXSG, and his volunteers are extended a job well done as representatives from all of the state SDFs had only compliments for the event, facilities, and hospitality. The TSGA Hospitality Suite was the center of the action whenever a program was not ongoing and the raffle prizes awarded were big hits for the attendees. Congratulations are also extended to LTC LaValle and BG Jerry Icenhower as bother were elected to the SGAUS Board of Directors for 2005.

15 August, 2004 - TSGA members were easily able to renew or start their membership during the TXSG Annual Training weekend at Camp Swift in Bastrop as well as purchase TSGA items. Current and new members will automatically be extended membership into the National Guard Assoc. of Texas when the merger is completed in March of 2005. The TSGA also provided funds for training materials for the Initial Entry Training Train-the-Trainers course.

1 August, 2004 - With regret, COL Wayne Stokes (Ret) asked that he be released from his duties as TSGA Treasurer due to health issues. WO1 Ivan Calhoun will immediately assume the combined position of Secretary/Treasurer for the remainder of the association year. The association wishes COL Stokes the very best in recovery and sends our deepest thanks to him for his service to the Texas Military Forces and the TSGA.

27 March, 2004 - The annual TSGA meeting was once again held in conjunction with the National Guard Assocation of Texas annual convention. The highlight of the convention was the near unanimous NGAT member vote to approve the merger of TSGA and NGAT into an organization retaining the NGAT name. At the breakout session for the TSGA a limited slate of associations officers were elected in order to finalize the merger along with merger committee chair, BG Jerry Icenhower. The elected 2004 association officers are as follows:

President   LtCol Tom Brooks
President Elect   COL Kenneth Scarborough
1st Vice President   vacant
2nd Vice President   vacant
Treasurer   COL Wayne Stokes (Ret)
Secretary   WO1 Ivan Calhoun
Past President   COL Carlos Garza

An additional highlight of the TSGA meeting was the promotion of COL Marshall Scantlin to Brigadier General by the Adjutant General of Texas, LG Wayne Marty. Two TSGA members, COL Merv Doherty and CPT Kris Krueger, were also approved for awarding of the Sam Houston Award. Congratulations to each of them are extended for their service to the TXSG and the TSGA.
